Let’s face it, other than the kitchen, the bathroom is the busiest place in your home, it is also quite possibly the smallest room in your home. However, this little space can become the center of attention simply by choosing the right accessories... Read more..

The bathroom is the one room in the house where you can just go crazy and showcase your style. Since it’s a small space to begin with for most people, it may not require a lot of work in making it over.

The first step to re-designing your bathroom is to decide what theme you would like to go with. There are millions of themes that can work well in the bathroom, everything from sea life to Victorian themes are available in most home sections of stores. Once you have your theme it’s time to strut your design style and move forward.

There are many accessories that come already matched in department stores, so finding items that go together shouldn’t be a problem, You can get an entire bathroom vanity set; cups, toothbrush holder, soap holders etc. Many people use these accessories as a basis to their overall design theme and then just work around them. So choose wisely!

The best way to hide all of the little odds and ends that can accumulate in the bathroom is by having an over the toilet cabinet that has doors. All of the hair product and hygiene items can be safely hidden away from view. Make sure to match your cabinet to other furniture items or themes in the bathroom such as wood, or wrought iron pieces so you have a uniform look.

Matching color schemes are also a great way to spruce up your bathroom. If your walls are painted, look for accessories that contrast that color. Color can play a huge part in decorating with accessories and help to bring your theme to the forefront. This holds true not only for accessories but for bathroom towels and shower curtains as well.

Here are few unconventional ideas that can really showcase your bathroom in style:

Vintage Items - The best way to spruce up a bathroom is by going the vintage route with various old perfume, or vanity items. An antique mirror can also add a special stylish touch.

Plants - Bringing in the outdoors to the bathroom can add warmth to an otherwise cold and sparse space.

Artwork - Why not place some beautiful artwork on the walls that will compliment your theme. Artwork can make any room instantly more stylish. Valuable artwork should not be placed in the bathroom due to humidity, which can ruin the print. Look for something at a thrift shop or second hand store that is inexpensive and can easily be replaced if damaged.

Candles - The bathroom should be used as a retreat from a stressful day. Place candles of all shapes and sizes all around on shelves and around the tub to give a spa-like feel.

Toilet Accessories - The days of hiding the toilet paper are over. There are many creative items that now show off your rolls. Let your quirky side shine through!

Decorative Containers - Instead of having a million and one bottles and jars all over the bathroom, look for some decorative and colorful containers to place your shampoos and lotions in and then display them proudly.

Whatever design theme you choose, you will never be at a loss for accessories. Just don’t over decorate, an over decorated small space can be overwhelming not only to you and your family, but to your guests as well. Keep it simple!
