Art – Lesser Known Artists and Why Decorate At All?

Art is something that is completely subjective in nature. The works of the great masters, Picasso, Rembrandt and others are all known and most people have already seen them, read about them and have their own opinions on them. Whether or not those opinions belong to them or what they have heard over time does not truly matter.

Art is an expression of something you can’t touch with your hand but reaches into your soul and your mind allowing the viewer to apply his or her own experiences into it. The art chosen to be displayed in a place, be it a home or a place of business, also says something about the person who lives there or works there. The artwork you choose for a space can help define it and set a tone for the entire area as well as offer insight into who you are as a person or a business.

You can actively look for artwork which puts forth a particular tone for any given area and can have an effect, whether known or not, to anyone who enters your space. On the other hand, if you simply choose what moves you then you are sending out a message to a visitor telling them a little about yourself and how you think.

Either way, it is sometimes best to go with lesser-known artists. The reason behind this is simple; many people have seen the Mona Lisa and know all about it. If they saw a reproduction of a painting in your home or office they wouldn’t think much of it. If they were able to see a completely unknown piece of artwork, they may stop and look it at causing them to wonder about who the artist might be.

Throwing the unfamiliar into a room, especially if it is art of any kind, makes it a focal point in the room and can speak volumes about your character. Art is an expression of not only the artist, but also the person who is moved by such work.

Art is beauty in all its forms regardless of who likes a particular piece or not. Art is not only something you place on a wall to cover a spot, it is something that speaks of you and your soul for all to see and know.
