Art Blogs: How They Can Influence People to Buy Art

Winter Land

A blog, which is a contraction of “Web Log”, is a website which is normally maintained by one or two people who regularly post stories, articles, reviews or personal information in order to share information with other people. Sometimes a blog can be focused on a certain topic with the intent of enlightening people as to the particular topic.

On such type of blog that falls into the last category is an Art blog. An Art blog would focus on nothing but art, artists, where to see new and exciting art and information about up and coming new artists. The world of art is constantly moving, changing and growing in all different directions and a good way to keep up on it is through art blogs.

The Tree of Love

As to the ability to influence people to buy artwork through a blog there is little doubt a well-written blog website can most certainly influence people to purchase art in a general manner as well as specific works. There are blog sites that are hosted by specific galleries to promote the artists they are featuring at their gallery.

Take for instance a new art blog called “Art 4 Your Home” (http://www.blog.biddeas.com), this is a relatively new art blog featuring reviews and information about specifically designed artwork to brighten up your home with some new, fascinating and tasteful pieces of artwork. The reviews and images on the blog make it easy to imagine how it would look in your home.

The great thing about a blog is the passion of the person who makes the blog. Take for instance http://new-art.blogspot.com They have to taken time out of their life to share their passion with you and in this, they are imparting knowledge and their joy. You know then, because of this you can have a level of trust in them, otherwise, why would they do this? Most blogs are made with a desire to get you interested in what is being said and done in the blog.

Abstract Still Life II

Just seeing a painting in a store with no one around to really tell you anything about the piece takes away from the experience and the meaning behind the work. The biggest thing about art is how you connect with and understand the artwork. An art blog can make a strong connection and help you understand what the intent of the artist was and how it can better fit into not only your home, but your life as well.

The other great thing about how effective a blog can be at promoting an artist or a set of artists is through the interaction with the public. Blogs are not static things, they have a life all their own through comments and questions from the viewers. http://www.artsyferret.com/ uses this technique by reviewing the art they see around them and prompting responses. By utilizing this feature of a blog that sells artwork, you are actively educating and promoting instead of just placing some picture on a site and hoping someone buys something from you.

Hunting

Today’s consumers are more educated than ever before and because of technology, they are able to shop and see things, including artwork, from all over the world in the comfort of their bedroom. Making a personal connection through an art blog is paramount in ensuring the future of new artists and your livelihood.
