We have all struggled with trying to design the interior of our homes. Trying to come up with the right theme, design or finishing touches can be frustrating. There are however, certain pieces that can add that special touch and really bring a room full circle.
Personal design is just that, personal, it’s all about what you like and what you are trying to convey through your style. People often make the mistake of designing a room for what they think other people will like, but this isn’t the way to go. You should design a room to your taste because you are the one that will have to live with your choices in the end. It may look good in a magazine, but you have to decide if t will be functional in your home.
A great way to personalize a room and add some elegance is by purchasing artwork as that perfect finishing touch. Take a few steps back and look at the design you have created then look for a piece of artwork that will take your design even further. A simple painting on the wall can add dimension and style to almost any room.
If your room is contemporary or modern keep that in mind when you are shopping for the perfect piece of artwork. A room that is monotone in color could benefit from adding an art piece that is bold and colorful. If the room has bold colors woven into the design through the furniture or rugs for instance, go for a more understated art piece.
Deciding where to place your beautiful artwork may be challenging, most people tend to place their artwork in an area that will pop when you enter the room. You want the piece to be seen first and then the rest of the room to flow around it. A great wall color can add to your painting as well, a white wall could be accented with a colorful print and a dark colored wall can be accented by placing black and white framed photos or paintings.
It is a fact that wherever you decide to place a piece of artwork, it will become a point of conversation as people are interested in art, no matter if they know about the history of art or are art novices. If an artwork is placed correctly, the room then speaks for itself and your interior design skills will be revered.
